Demo of BeamNG bridge for openpilot

I’ve been using BeamNG.drive (not BeamNG.tech) for a while and thought it would be a nice challenge to build a BeamNG bridge for openpilot.
So… here’s a Proof of Concept. See the video description for more details and references.

I thought this might be of interest to some in the BeamNG.tech world – I’m sure all of this could be done in BeamNG.tech, too!

(openpilot is an open-source, camera-based driver assistance system (ADAS) developed by comma.ai)

Hi @mblommiston,

That’s amazing work — openpilot system with a BeamNG bridge is truly impressive! It’s exciting to see how the community explores advanced concepts like this and pushes the boundaries of what can be done with our simulation tools. Thanks for sharing your proof of concept and contributing such inspiring work to the BeamNG community.

All the best,

Dear @mblommiston, would you be open to a chat about how your prototype implementation could be used for scientific research? I work heavily with BeamNG and this projects could boost research on scenario-based testing.

Hi @alessiogambi , Yes I am open to a discussion – I will send an email to you at your ait.ac.at address, from bl*****.m*@gmail.com. We can continue the discussion there. I saw your publication on Scenario Based Training using BeamNG – I will definitely read through the PDF and slides – I know there’s something there I can learn! And also your many other publications on BeamNG.tech – impressive!!!

Developing scenarios for Human Factors testing related to ADAS is what I spent most of my career on a Ford Motor Company.

Thanks,

Mike
